Taking Your Business to the Cloud, Part 2…

In speaking with clients about the idea of taking their business to a cloud-based software system, we often find that there are two distinct groups of people: those who see the possibilities and can’t wait to get started, and those who feel more than a little bit skeptical about trusting something new that they don’t fully understand. After all, since the whole point of “the cloud” is that it isn’t in your office, how do you know you can trust it?

The quick answer is that there isn’t any one single answer that’s right for every organization – at DCM, we’ve become one of the top Calgary IT companies by looking at every client’s individual needs and then helping them to make the best choices. But with that being said, we are finding that a lot of businesses, and especially smaller ones in the oil and gas industry, are being able to do a lot more while decreasing expenses through cloud computing.

In our last post, we covered some of the reasons that Microsoft Office 365 represents a breakthrough for a lot of companies, making at least one form of cloud-based software a great choice for a lot of organizations in Calgary.

Today, we want to point out one other thing you should know: that a lot of really great, innovative companies are putting their faith in the cloud, too.

It says something that it isn’t just Microsoft that thinks the future of personal and business computing lies beyond PCs, laptops, and localized servers. Google, IBM, Amazon, and Accenture are just a few of the dozens of others that are also jumping in with both feet. What is it that they see? A quickly approaching future where your team doesn’t need computers to operate, but can work from fully functional smart phones, tablets, and other web-ready devices that might not fit within the traditional definition of a “computer.”

Cloud software offers any business in Calgary the chance to make their organization faster and more versatile. If you have questions about how it works, or whether it’s right for you, contact DCM today – we’ll be happy to answer any questions you might have.
